Our Story
How it started
GamechangHERS started with a single social media post in JAN 2025, "Where are we watching Unrivaled?" This led to an invitation to a women's basketball watch party, with women's sports ON SCREEN, WITH SOUND! Only 7 people showed up, and that was the start of something BIG!
That small gathering was never really about the quanity, it was about creating a space where women's sports could bring people together; and it kept growing. We went from watch parties, to linking up pregame, halftime AND post game at local sports events.
Somewhere in that growth, it became clear this was bigger than watch parties. DeeCee Cotton, GamechangHERS' founder, grew up watching her grandmother pour into everyone around her, especially the youth and elder; showing up for people even when there wasn't much to give. That's where DeeCee learned that showing up is everything. Creating access for our OG fans, new fans and especially our youth became the mission for ALL women's sports.
How it's going
Women's sports is growing, but with that access for some of our youth became limited. After talking with parents we were able to get an idea on what our youth need to continue to succeed on the court and in the front office for all women's sports. That is ACCESS without barriers which lead us to our mission and vision for the organization.
Today, that mission lives on through ROYALS, GamechangHERS' flagship youth development program, officially launching in September 2026. Every Royal is a girl DeeCee sees herself in, and the belief driving GamechangHERS hasn't changed since that first watch party: no girl should be counted out of her own future because of what she didn't have access to. It started with four people and a love of the game. It's growing into access for youth in women's sports.
